We carefully plan every day at the Bowen Island Dog Ranch, making sure dogs have time to play, rest, and explore in our beautiful, peaceful forest. Here’s what a typical day looks like for our canine guests.

Good Morning Playtime

All the pups staying with us for Boarding or Board & Train starts their day with a full hour of play outside. The pups head into the property’s expansive outdoor spaces to run, play, and explore at their own pace, having fun with their friends and our caring staff while using up their morning energy before breakfast.

Breakfast

After playtime, breakfast is served. Staff feed and administer medication according to each dog’s individual needs. After breakfast, it’s time to relax and they settle into their Barn or Lodge rooms with spa music playing. This helps them recharge while the staff clean the facilities, prepare the dogs’ next meals, and give tip-to-tail health checks.

Training

At this time our training team starts training the Board & Train or Day Camp & Train pups. They may use the breakfast meals as rewards and train in one of our training studios, various locations on the property, in Bowen Island’s trails or Snug Cove Village.

Extra Activities and Enrichment

Late morning the fun ramps up for our dogs enrolled in our “Enriched Dog Boarding”. The pups love the off property walks and hikes, beach swims, and fun brain games. Each activity keeps the dogs active, engaged, and happy.

City Shuttle Arrival & Midday Playtime

Once the City Shuttle dogs arrive, it’s another fun outdoor session with their friends. After playtime, midday meals or medications are given and the pups settle in for another much-needed nap. The training dogs also might get another training session at this time.

Quick Bath & Brush

If any pups are scheduled for a quick bath and brush, our staff take them into the “Groom Room” building in the afternoon, so they can look their best before going home. We are looking for another professional groomer.

Mid-Afternoon Fun, Play & Training

The afternoon playtime gives dogs yet another full hour to play, socialize, and enjoy the outdoors. Whether it’s running, exploring, playing in groups, or looking for pets from our caring staff, this playtime is all about letting dogs be dogs. Board & Train or Day Camp & Train pups may also get more training within the packs of our other canine guests or separately as needed.

Dinner Time

As the afternoon winds down, it’s time for the last meal of the day. After dinner, dogs settle into another restful period to relax before the final activities of the day.

Night Time Potty & Play

The night potty time lets the dogs stretch, move around, hang out with their friends again, and have a bathroom break before bedtime. If needed, they’ll receive a late night snack, meal or medications.

Bedtime

With the day complete, dogs settle into their cozy spaces for the night. The Dog Ranch buildings have the night lights turned on and the spa music is put on low; water bowls are refilled, and bedding is fluffed up. Our buildings are monitored for a fire emergency, and the manager and part-time staff live on the property, so every dog is safe and cared for in case of an emergency overnight.

Why Dogs Love It Here

At the Dog Ranch, every dog experiences a full day of activity, relaxation, and attention. With multiple playtimes, engaging activities, and plenty of opportunities to rest, it’s the ultimate dog vacation, keeping the pups happy, healthy, and safe. With that kind of peace of mind, no wonder it’s Vancouver’s favourite dog boarding and dog training facility!
